WASHINGTON – Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) this week honored our nation’s farmers and ranchers as part of National Agriculture Week. In a speech on the Senate floor yesterday, Johanns highlighted the hard work of producers across Nebraska and the nation who continue to lead the way in agriculture. Video of his remarks can be found here. A full, official transcript can be found here.
“National Ag Week provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the rich agricultural history of our state and recognize the hard work of our farmers and ranchers,” said Johanns. “Agriculture is an integral part of Nebraska’s economy. I am proud of the accomplishments of our producers, who work long days to provide safe and affordable food to the world. I will continue my work to ensure a positive regulatory environment for agriculture.”
Earlier this week, Johanns requested leaders of the Senate Agriculture Committee to hold a field hearing in Nebraska to discuss the farm bill reauthorization. A copy of the letter can be found here.
