WASHINGTON – Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) today applauded the Senate confirmation of Justice John Gerrard to the U.S. Court for the District of Nebraska. Gerrard's confirmation passed, 74-16.
"I'm pleased my Senate colleagues recognized that Justice Gerrard is a highly disciplined judge who has distinguished himself throughout more than a decade of service on our state's high court," Johanns said. "I look forward to him serving our nation on the federal bench."
Justice Gerrard was appointed to the Nebraska Supreme Court in 1995, the youngest person ever appointed to the state bench. He was nominated in May 2011 to fill the seat of Judge Richard Kopf, who retired in December 2011.
