WASHINGTON –Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) today issued the following statement after the Senate Agriculture Committee passed a draft of the farm bill:
"This farm bill is a positive step toward simple, responsible, and more market-oriented ag policy. I'm pleased that the Agriculture Committee has taken steps to reduce the deficit, and with the example it sets in how a committee can come together in a bipartisan way. Specifically, moving away from direct payments while bolstering the crop insurance program is good for our farmers and ranchers and good for American agriculture."
